Kidneys
The back body, effort, and receiving support
A Body of Trust gathering · An intimate somatic expressive arts studio experience with Alyssa Jurewicz Johns
There are parts of the body that work quietly, beyond our usual field of attention.
The back body is one of these landscapes.
With the kidneys as our starting place, we’ll explore effort, endurance, replenishment, and the experience of receiving support. Movement, body mapping, drawing, and writing will offer ways to listen to what has been carrying us.
Where does effort gather? What does support feel like? What images emerge when attention turns behind?
We’ll make room for subtle movement, for rest, and for discovering what nourishment might look like in our own creative language.
Inside the studio
Paper, pastels, and space to move offer somewhere for sensation to take shape. You might follow a gesture into a drawing, discover a movement within an image, or find a few words that bring the experience into everyday life.
Rooted in the Tamalpa Life/Art Process, this gathering is part of Body of Trust: Creative Investigations in Movement & Image, inspired by my book and the living studio practice behind its pages.
Each gathering stands on its own. You can attend this session independently, with no previous movement or art experience required. You choose your pace and what you share.
